Pressurisation 'p' and 'pD'
The Pressurisation Standard for the exclusion of gases and dusts has now been separated into gases within the "60079" series and dusts within the "61241" series of standards. The difference in behaviour of the two potentially explosive materials is recognised and Certification may either include equipment for both hazardous area applications or one only medium. Test and assessment includes the same detailed approach as for all explosion-protection techniques.

The requirements for pressurisation within explosive dust atmospheres allow for this type of protection to operate in either Zone 21 or Zone 22.
