IEC 60079-18 - Encapsulation "Ex m"

TestSafe is in a position to assess and test to the IEC and Australian encapsulating standards for both explosive gas and dust atmospheres (61241-18).

Encapsulation involves specific, minimum dimensions for the material surrounding the electrical components and its ability to withstand any heat given off by them or the surrounding atmosphere. Electrical strength as well as mechanical strength is important and the avoidance of voids within the encapsulant is also important.

For information that should be addressed prior to submission for Certification, please check through General Requirements IEC 60079-0 and check that the product can comply with the relevant clauses of: Encapsulation Ex m - IEC 60079 - 18.
