IEC 60079 - 6 - Oil-immersion "Ex o"
This type of explosion-protection is seldom used. Past experience led to the selection of protective liquids that are both safe from ignition, within certain limits; and contamination of the atmosphere in the event of leakage may prevent its use, by legislation, in some areas of application.
Firepoint and flash point, viscosity and electrical breakdown strength of the liquid, together with the construction of the electrical components and the enclosure all play a part in the assessment and testing for Certification.
The Standards have been adopted as Australian and New Zealand Standards and show the prefix "AS/NZS".
- For information that should be addressed prior to submission for Certification, please check through General Requirements IEC 60079-0 and check that the product can comply with the relevant clauses of: Oil-Immersion - IEC 60079-6.
