Eye protectors

We test protective eyewear used in workplaces to determine if they meet the requirements of the Australian standard AS/NZ 1337.1:2010.

Protective eyewear is used to protect the eyes of workers from flying particles, molten metal, chemicals, welding arc, or bright light (like radiant energy, UV, or infrared).

Examples of the protective eyewear we test include:

  • protective glasses
  • goggles
  • face shields

Things we test for include:

  • dimensions
  • visual quality
  • low impact testing-ball drop method
  • penetration resistance
  • flame propagation
  • protection against hot solids
  • marking
  • special transmittance

We may also be able to test to other standards or carry out similar tests if required.
